Part of Causeway Project to open in July

BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A spokesman with the NCDOT said a third lane heading into Brunswick County from New Hanover County on Highway 74/76/17 should be open next month.

Spokesman Brian Rick said the third lane from the Battleship to the Brunswick River is scheduled to be open by July 21. This lane will help the congestion caused from the bottleneck of traffic coming from the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge and U.S. 421. The additional lane also means the extension of the bridge over the Alligator Creek. The extension ends before the bridge over the Brunswick River.

Other aspects of the project, including the Diverging Diamond on N.C. 133 getting on the causeway, will be completed in November 2016.
