Church’s air conditioning unit stolen

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Tropical Storm Ana caused minimal damage to the Cape Fear … but some people still saw the storm as a reason to go looting.

The pastor of Faith Baptist Church tells WWAY that an air conditioning unit from their church located on Shipyard Boulevard in Wilmington was stolen while the storm was hitting our area.

Since then, Pastor Frank Hackworth and his congregation have been struggling to raise the funds to buy a new unit.

Even through this hard time though, Pastor Hackworth says he’s found a way to forgive those who wronged his church.

“They already know where the Faith Baptist Church is located at,” said Hackworth. “And I would like for them to come back and be in one of our services. I’d treat them just as good as gold.”

The church has since ordered a new air conditioner.
