Sheriff’s captain named Burgaw police chief

BURGAW, NC (WWAY) — A current Pender County Sheriff’s Office captain is now the police chief of Burgaw.

Town Manager Chad McEwen said Jim Hock will take over the position July 9. He said Hock has more than 18 years of law enforcement experience with the Pender County Sheriff’s Office. Hock is currently a division captain over the Support Division.

McEwen said Hock was selected out of a pool of more than 50 applicants.
