WPD investigating apartment pool drowning

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating the death of a 32-year-old man.

Police say Joseph Tirres Patterson was found dead in the pool at The Pines of Wilmington apartment complex on Mayflower Drive at around 2:30 a.m. They say Patterson and an acquaintance climbed the fence to access the pool. The other person left the area for a short time and when he or she returned, Patterson was dead in the pool.

Investigators say no foul play is suspected. An autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow.
