UPDATE: Crews rule fire at Wilmington home accidental

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington fire crews say investigators ruled a fire that sparked at a home early Monday morning accidental.

Firefighters say the flames were reported overnight in the 1900 block of Washington Street, where it appeared no one was living inside the single-story home at the time.

A Wilmington Fire Department spokesman said investigators with the fire marshal’s office helped in the investigation, finding that the flames started around the electrical meter base at the home.

Crews say the damage, which is estimated to be around $30,000, was confined to the exterior part of the structure.
