Body of missing kayaker found in Catawba River

BELMONT, NC (AP) — Crews have found the body of a man missing in a kayak in the Catawba River.

Multiple media outlets report the body was found in about 10 feet of water around 6:30 p.m. Saturday near the Interstate 85 bridge on the Gaston-Mecklenburg county line.

The man’s name has not been released.

Fire officials say the man had been reported missing about three hours earlier near the US National Whitewater Center.
