NEW DETAILS: Teen caught in crossfire, shot in kneecap

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police say a teen is recovering after he got caught in the crossfire during a shootout between two males in Creekwood Tuesday evening.

Police say it happened in the 1100 block of Stewart Circle around 6 p.m. That’s where they say two men were shooting at each other nearby, and a 16-year-old was hit while in the yard of the home at 1105 Stewart Circle.

Officers say the teen was shot in the left kneecap, and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Click here to hear from neighbors who witnessed and describe the shooting scene.
