New chancellor starts at UNCW

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Jose V. “Zito” Sartarelli has begun his tenure as UNCW chancellor.

The former dean of the College of Business and Economics at West Virginia University was named UNCW’s leader in April. Sartarelli replaces Gary Miller, who left UNCW last summer for the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Bill Sederburg has been serving as UNCW’s interim chancellor since August.

“I’m humbled, I’m honored and I’m excited to hit the ground running,” Sartarelli said after his selection. “UNCW is a strong university. Growing. Financially sound.”
