Wilmington Film Museum gives movies new life

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Film Museum has set up shop at the Hannah Block Community Arts Center.

The president of the Cape Fear Independent Film Network, Rick Gehron, said the exhibit is just a taste of what the museum hopes to put together in the future. Gehron said he hopes the museum shows people just what a rich film history the Port City has.

“Most people are only familiar with Screen Gems. They’re film memory goes back to Iron Man 3 and that’s about it. But we just thought it was important to tell the complete story, as much as we could. Starting all the way back from the first instances of film in the early 1900’s,” said Gehron.

The museum will be holding an open house on July 29th from 5-7 p.m. Gehron said the event will also be a fundraiser to help the museum find a permanent home for the future.
