WPD: Man caught stealing deodorant tries to stab store clerk with screwdriver
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Police are investigating after they say a man caught stealing several sticks of deodorant from a Wilmington CVS Pharmacy tried to stab the store clerk with a screwdriver Tuesday afternoon.
Wilmington Police say it happened around 2:15 p.m. at the CVS at 3302 Market Street. That’s where they say officers responded to reports of a larceny after a clerk told them he witnessed the suspect steal sticks of deodorant and attempt to leave.
Police say when the clerk tried to stop the suspect, he grabbed a screwdriver and attempted to stab the worker. When the suspect missed the clerk with the screwdriver, police say he ran out the door toward Market North.
Wilmington Police are still investigating the crime.
