Surf City Bridge hit by barge

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — The Surf City Bridge Tender says the bridge was hit by a barge just after noon today.

The Bridge Tender says there is a lot of debris in the water.

The bridge is currently closed to boat traffic pending inspection. It is still open to vehicle traffic at this time.
