Man sentenced for armed robbery that led to chase
BLADEN COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A man will spend at least the next six years in prison after pleading guilty to several charges after an armed robbery that led to a police chase last fall in Bladen County.
Badr Rashada Colvin, 32, pleaded guilty this week to one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon, one count of possession of a firearm by a felon and one count of breaking and/or entering a motor vehicle, according to the DA’s Office.
Prosecutors say on October 14, 2014, Colvin approached a man parked near 10120 NC Highway 53W in White Oak and pointed a gun at him and making the man get out of his Chevrolet S-10. A Highway Patrol Trooper chased Colvin into Fayetteville, where investigators say Colvin crashed and totaled the vehicle. Officers arrested Colvin with a .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol.
A judge sentenced Colvin to 77-105 months in prison.
Records show Colvin has been in prison since earlier this year for other crimes. His record, which dates back to 2000, includes multiple convictions for breaking and entering, larceny, assault on a female and other crimes.
