Police: Driver hits hydrant trying to escape shooting

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are investigating a shots fired call that turned into a car crash.

It happened at around 11 a.m. in the 4500 block of Greentree Road. Police said a driver who was fleeing gunshots hit a parked car and hydrant. The name of the driver and passengers have not been released.

No injuries or arrests have been reported. Parts of Greentree Road were flooded for a short time due to the crash.
