FIRST ON 3: Father, son won’t face death penalty in repo man murder


COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A father and son accused of killing a repo man will not face the death penalty.

William Roy Kohler Jr., 51, and William Roy Kohler III, 18, are accused of shooting Jeffrey David Lowe, 37, as he tried to repossess a vehicle from a home near Whiteville at around 3 a.m. June 9.

District Attorney Jon David says after a meeting with the family and a court hearing today the cases for each defendant has been declared non-capital.

David says bond is set for each man at $1 million.
