Drug bust targets more than 100 suspected dealers

New Hanover County Sheriffs are cracking down on drug problems in our area.

More than one hundred known drug dealers have been targeted in the ongoing effort.

After a seven month undercover investigation, and a quick briefing Wednesday morning, New Hanover County Sheriff’s Deputies set out to round up 117 drug dealers.

It is called operation Clean Up Lady.

An undercover deputy purchased countless illegal drugs like crack, cocaine, heroine, marijuana, and pharmaceuticals from dealers while disguised as a cleaning lady.

After receiving dozens of calls from residents, deputies focused on areas throughout the county, known for drug activity.

Sheriff Sid Causey said, “Those who pay taxes and live here and who have lived here most of their lives deserve a decent neighborhood to live in where they walk to the store without having to walk around drug dealers and all the associated crimes that go with drug dealing, thefts and prostitution.”

By mid-day, dozens of suspected dealers were being brought in by the car load.
