Lost blind, deaf dog returned to North Carolina

SMITHFIELD, NC (AP) — A deaf and blind poodle has been returned to North Carolina after being found in Massachusetts.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reported that 16-year-old Coco was found in Belchertown, Massachusetts. Coco had been missing from her home in Concord for nearly a month.

Coco’s owners said they had let the dog out to use the bathroom briefly and she vanished.

Animal control officer Anna Kuralt-Fenton found the dog Aug. 9 and posted a picture on Facebook.

Someone called and said a neighbor had spotted the lost dog in North Carolina and had picked it up and taken it to Massachusetts. The neighbor did not reveal the woman’s name so she will not be charged with taking and abandoning the dog.

Coco’s owners are to pick her up Tuesday.
