Continuing construction problems plague apartment complex

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — A frustrated community is speaking out after continuing construction problems effecting their homes.

The folks on Cape Fear Blvd. in Carolina Beach are no strangers to road work. For months they have been dealing with construction near their homes. But after a power outage on Wednesday, residents are saying enough is enough.

“From my understanding it was all supposed to be done within June. And now they’re saying it’ll be October,” said Milton Moore, a resident of Cape Fear Blvd.

Neighbors said a dump truck is to blame for knocking out power to at least 12 families.

“Dump truck came in and raised the body and tore the powerline out, broke the pole, pulled the weather head off the building…” Moore said.

The outage happened just after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning. Frustrated neighbors said not only is their road closed off to traffic but now they are without air conditioning, Internet, and ways to prepare meals.

“I’m on oxygen and my oxygen needs electric to run on,” Moore said.

Luckily home care was able to bring another type of tank out. But neighbors are still left wondering when the inconveniences will end for their little community.
