New design and paint goes a long way at Trask Coliseum
WILMINGTON, NC (UNCW) — A few months after the introduction of a fresh athletics logo, Trask Coliseum, the centerpiece of UNCW’s athletic facilities, is getting a new look.
The main floor of the arena is being sanded and painted by this week by J&J Flooring with an attractive new design incorporating the school’s new mark, this time in a 24×26 foot display adorning the center of the Trask Coliseum floor.
“We’re very excited about being able to showcase our new logo as new energy and excitement surrounds our program,” said Jimmy Bass, UNCW’s athletic director. “Trask Coliseum has long been the cornerstone of our athletic facilities, so it’s important for us to showcase our primary mark in the most visible way we possibly can.”
Graphic designer Kyle Prey of UNCW’s Office of University Relations came up with the new floor design following input from athletic and school officials. The floor was last sanded and repainted in 2011.
For the first time, the department’s web presence, UNCWsports.com, and social media identity, @UNCWAthletics, will be featured on the floor.
