Man shot in mouth identified, deputies investigating

CASTLE HAYNE, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a man was shot in the mouth overnight.

According to a news release, Randy Curtis Stewart, 53, walked into the Kangaroo gas station in Castle Hayne after 1 a.m. suffering from a gunshot wound to the mouth. He was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center while detectives began investigating, but the information he could give them was limited, because he could not talk.

The sheriff’s office says detectives are following up on several leads as their investigation continues.
