Police searching for suspect in tobacco shop robbery

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington Police are looking for a suspect who dispatchers said robbed a Wilmington tobacco store early Monday morning.

New Hanover County Dispatch said the call came in just after 9 a.m. reporting the crime at M B Super Discount Tobacco in the 800 block of Shipyard Boulevard. They said a man walked in asking for cigarettes.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 30s, about 5’10” tall with a medium skin tone. Dispatchers said the man was wearing a burgundy and grey hoodie at the time of the robbery, and he left the scene in an older burgundy-colored vehicle.

There’s no word on what he got away with or if he had a weapon. Wilmington Police are investigating.
