Wilmington mom gets a special gift on Labor Day
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — While many people were kicking back and relaxing on the Labor Day holiday a Wilmington mother was busy bringing a new life into the world.
Crystal McCombs says some work on this Labor Day was worth it especially now that she gets to finally hold her baby boy Noah. Noah was born in the early morning on Labor Day at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
“I actually got the shorter end of the labor, from what I actually acknowledge as labor it was maybe about two hours,” said McCombs.
While McCombs says her labor was short, she put her sister Cecilia Lacy to work. Lacy is a cardiac nurse and she actually helped deliver Noah.
“I don’t have a lot of background in delivery but it definitely got exciting about 4:10 a.m.,” said Lacy.
McCombs says her sister is a Godsend for helping.
“She drove me here to the hospital and got me to triage in time to deliver two minute after I got there,” said McCombs.
Not a minute too soon for little Noah that actually came about two weeks early. Lacy says he was a welcomed surprise.
“I think he’s awesome. When I saw his little face and he cried out I fell in love,” said Lacy.
McCombs says what’s next for Noah is he still has to meet his big sister and cousins.
“They are going to love to play dress up with him and they are like ‘we can’t wait’ so yeah he’s going to be the ultimate surprise and playmate,” said McCombs.
