Hit the water for annual Pier-2-Pier swim race Saturday
WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Hit the water at Wrightsville Beach Saturday to help raise money for YMCA swim programs at the 11th Annual Pier-2-Pier Swim Race.
The two mile contest runs from Johnnie Mercer’s Pier to the Crystal Pier and is held in honor of former UNCW swimmer Ryan Young who died in an automobile accident in 2009.
Hosted by the Cape Fear Aquatics Club and the YMCA the event is open to anyone over 11 years of age and there are prizes in several categories.
Meet at Wrightsville Beach Town Hall no later than 8:45 a.m. Saturday to check in and for transportation to the starting point.
