Two arrested, one sought in early-morning robberies

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Wilmington police are investigating two robberies this morning – one at an Oleander Drive gas station and another of a newspaper delivery driver at an ATM.

Police said the first robbery happened at around 4:46 a.m. at 1929 Oleander Drive. They said some newspaper delivery people were at a cash machine near the Food Lion when a gold car approached and blocked them in. A handgun was used in the incident but no injuries were reported. Police said Michael Damon, 18, and Quran Thompson, 19, were charged in that robbery.

According to New Hanover County dispatch the second robbery was reported at 6:36 a.m. Dispatchers said a man with a gun robbed the Handee Hugo at 4100 Oleander Drive. They said he went in the store to make a purchase, waited until the register was open and then demanded money.

That suspect is described as a black male, about 6 feet talk in his late 20s. Police said he was wearing a floppy hat with a camouflage-like design, red and black shorts and a dark shirt.
