City holds on-site meeting for Water St. and Riverfront Park improvements

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Downtown folks got another chance to come out and get their questions answered about the Water St. and Riverfront Park improvement project.

City officials met with people on the steps of the federal courthouse this morning to talk about the improvements and renovations. Deputy City Manager, Richard King, said getting information out is key to the process.

“Once you close a major road like this you have concerns with the merchants and the business owners and visitors alike who like to come down here and enjoy the park. So we want to make sure we get that information out of what the closure is going to be, what kind of work we’re going to be doing, what the need is for that work, so everybody understands what’s going on,” King, said.

The project is slated to begin later this month and last through September 2016.
