Tickets for 2017 PGA Tour event in Wilmington on sale next month


WILMINGTON, NC (WELLS FARGO RELEASE) — Tickets for the 2017 Wells Fargo Championship, which will be contested at Wilmington’s Eagle Point Golf Club May 1-7 for one year only, will go on sale October 12, 2015.

The Wells Fargo Championship is not only one of the premier golf tournaments in the North Carolina region, but also in the world. During the past 13 years, the PGA TOUR event has consistently welcomed the world’s top players. Each of the tournament’s champions considered their victory at the Wells Fargo Championship to be a major achievement, given the strong field of competitors.

This year, Rory McIlroy became the tournament’s first multiple champion with a dominating performance at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, NC.  Past champions are: 2003 David Toms, 2004 Joey Sindelar, 2005 Vijay Singh, 2006 Jim Furyk, 2007 Tiger Woods, 2008 Anthony Kim, 2009 Sean O’Hair, 2010 Rory McIlroy, 2011 Lucas Glover, 2012 Rickie Fowler, 2013 Derek Ernst, 2014 J.B. Holmes and 2015 Rory McIlroy.

Six of the tournament’s 12 champions have earned major championship titles and three champions have held the No.1 spot in the Official World Golf Ranking at some point in time.

Fans are reminded that the Wells Fargo Championship will be staged in Wilmington only in 2017 before returning to Charlotte in 2018 and 2019. Therefore, tickets are predicted to be in high-demand and fans are encouraged to purchase early. Grounds ticket prices start with the $30 Practice Pack, which consist of three individual daily tickets for Monday through Wednesday. Also popular is the $165 Weekly Ticket Book, which represents a $95 savings from individual daily purchases. Through the years, many fans have found the Weekly Book to be a great gift.

Parking and round-trip shuttle service from tournament authorized lots will be FREE for the 2017 Wilmington tournament at Eagle Point Golf Club.

The tournament will also offer active and inactive military free one-day admission through the USO of North Carolina.

Grounds ticket options include:

  • Weekly Book – $165 — Includes admission to all seven days of the tournament and represents a savings of $95. The same individual does not have to use the ticket each day, allowing family members, friends and business associates to share the experience of the event.
  • Practice Pack – $30 — Consists of individual daily tickets for Monday’s Pro-Am, Tuesday’s practice round and the popular Wednesday Pro-Am (price includes all three days and fans are permitted to bring cameras during these days)
  • Thursday Individual Daily Ticket — $50 each
  • Friday, Saturday and Sunday Individual Daily Tickets — $60 each

TOURNAMENT ORGANIZER:      Champions for Education, based in Charlotte, NC, will operate and manage all aspects of the tournament. Champions for Education is the non-profit tournament host of the Wells Fargo Championship and has been in operation since the tournament was founded by Wells Fargo, Quail Hollow Club and the PGA TOUR in 2002. Led by Kym Hougham, the Executive Director, the nine-member staff will spend several months of total time in Wilmington preparing for the tournament.
