Primary election date change moves New Hanover Co. teacher workday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A new law that changes the date of North Carolina’s primary elections next year has forced an area school district to make a change to its calendar.

Gov. Pat McCrory recently signed into law moving the primary election from May 3, 2016, to March 15, 2016. As a result, the New Hanover County School Board has changed a teacher workday to match. That means instead of a teacher workday on May 3, there will be no school for students in New Hanover County on March 15.

This impacts traditional, year-round, Pre-K, Isaac Bear Early College, Wilmington Early College and Lake Forest Academy.
