WILMINGTON, NC (CFCC RELEASE) — The Cape Fear Community College women’s soccer team returned to the pitch after a 10-day hiatus and got back in the win column with a dominating 10-0 result over Wake Tech on Thursday.
Alyssa Coustenis raised her scoring total for the year with five goals in the match, while Jenna Pecorini recorded her first hat track of the season.

“It was awesome to see the kids bounce back after last weekend in Maryland,” said CFCC Coach Ryan Deppa. “The conditions slowed both teams down a bit, but it didn’t seem like it bothered us much. I was pleased as we experimented and our players adapted well to the changes.”  Gabby Serpa also tallied once and added one assist. Emily Valentine recorded three saves in net to preserve the clean sheet.

“We were very composed finishing off goals, which is a huge step for our team,” Deppa added. “Every player contributed to the win. Though the score line says one thing, Wake Tech never gave up. They worked hard for 90 minutes.”
The lopsided win snapped a two-game skid for the Sea Devils, who improved to 6-0 in conference and 6-4 overall. Cape Fear heads to Spartanburg Methodist for a Region X match on Saturday, Oct. 10.
