Lacrosse coach, former football coach injured in Wilmington hit and run


WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The N.C. Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run accident that left four people injured early Saturday including the former New Hanover head football coach and current head Lacrosse coach.

Sergeant P.M. Sanders said the four people were walking on Marsh Oaks Drive shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday when it happened.

He said the group was walking when a dark-colored SUV crossed the center of the road and hit Jeffrey West, New Hanover Lacrosse coach Keith Hatcher, Maureen Meehan, and former head football coach Frank Meehan.

Sanders said police are trying to find the motorist involved.
