Local Wine and Design owners host football parties

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — The NFL season is well underway and that means football fans are glued to the tv screens during the games.

One local business is giving those who are not tuning in something to do on game day. It’s another game day in the USA, but for some, football falls flat.

What is there to do? Turn your focus from a ball to a paint brush.

“We are offering painting classes to kind of get the women out of the house while men watch football,” Leland Wine and Design Owner Jennifer Marsh said.

Wilmington Wine and Design Owner Claudia Wooten-Hall and Leland Wine and Design Owner Jennifer Marsh said they are hosting football tailgate painting parties during football season.

“It’s a very long season, and it’s several hours in front of the TV, and it’s fun to watch a game or two but to be fully committed to it every weekend,” Marsh said. “I just thought the women might need a break.”

A break that includes painting, wine, but also your favorite teams’ colors.

“I’m going with Carolina,” Valirie Lewis said.

Valirie lewis said she does not mind watching football, but this might be a better way to spend the evening.

“I am not a crazy fan, but come out, eat and have fun,” Lewis said.

The good times are not just for the people looking for something else to do on game day.

“49’ERS San Francisco, they aren’t doing well but they weren’t playing tonight,” Donielle Bacon said.

Donielle Bacon is a big 49’ers fan, but she made it out to Wine and Design since her team was not taking the field.

“I thought it would be fun, something to do fun to get together and have a good time,” Bacon said.

Whoever you are, who ever you root for, you’re more than welcome to try your hand at painting.

“There’s nothing to stress out about, you just come in they are all easy, they are all fun, we help you and you go home with a good painting,” Wooten-Hall said.

The football parties are Sunday afternoons, but they host parties and classes throughout the week. Click here to find out more information.
