Man charged with murder after allegedly killing his wife

CHADBOURN, NC (WWAY) — A man is accused of shooting and killing his wife Saturday in Chadbourn.

Chadbourn Police Chief Darrell Trivette II said officers arrested Wendell Hardie, 42, at Columbus Regional Healthcare System Saturday night sometime after 9 p.m. and charged him with first-degree murder.

Trivette said Hardie allegedly shot his wife at their home on South Wilkes Street, but he also had injuries.

Hardie is in the Columbus County Detention Center.
