Authorities searching for ex-convict charged in wife’s death

WAKE FOREST, NC (AP) — Authorities are searching for a man recently released from prison who has been charged in connection with his wife’s death.

Multiple media outlets report 39-year-old Lanson Stalf was charged Wednesday with murder in connection to the death of Stephanie Autry.

Autry was found dead inside her home Tuesday evening. Town spokesman Bill Crabtree says Autry was the mother a 3-year-old child. Crabtree says the child’s nanny called police and asked officers to check on Autry’s well-being.

Authorities say Stalf just finished serving nearly six months behind bars for felony larceny. He was released from prison on Oct. 15.

State records show Stalf is a native of Illinois.

As of Wednesday afternoon, police hadn’t located Stalf. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact police.
