Remains found in Brunswick County could be missing teen
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – 18-year-old Al’quon Flowers disappeared in July 2011. Now, the teen’s father says his body has been found in Brunswick County.
Garry Hines says investigators told him they’ve uncovered his son’s remains on Hooper Road in Leland.
“After four years it’s relief,” said Hines. “I mean off of me and my wife and my kids back, it’s been a long time.”
Four years ago, Flowers was last seen on Red Cross Street. His cell phone was last used in Brunswick County.
Brunswick County Sheriff John Ingram said he could not confirm yet if the skeletal remains found were the remains of Flowers.
“We do not know if they are humans remains but we are still searching the area,” said Ingram.
Hines said he still has questions and everything isn’t resolved, but they feel better knowing Al’quon was found.
“Everybody loved that kid to death, you know everybody loved him, so we are getting some closure now and that’s what we wanted,” said Hines.
