WPD: Man riding scooter killed crossing road
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A man riding a scooter in Wilmington is dead after a car accident Friday.
Wilmington Police Department spokeswoman Linda Rawley said it happened in the 2300 block of Carolina Beach Road just before 7:00 p.m.
Rawley said when officers arrived they discovered that a man was attempting to cross Carolina Beach Road on a motorized scooter when he was struck by a Ford Fusion.
Police said the victim did not cross the road in the cross walk. The driver of the Fusion told police she never saw him until it was too late.
No charges have been filed at this time. Rawley said the victim’s name is not being released at this time.
