Water main break closes N. 23 St. for a few hours

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — CFPUA crews are finishing up repairs after a water main broke around noon on N. 23 Street between Shirley Road and Princess Place.

Mike McGill with CFPUA says they do not know what caused the 60 to 80-year-old water main to fail, but he says it is not uncommon for older water mains to have this problem.

The lanes of N. 23 Street were closed for a few hours while crews worked, but McGill says lanes are now open in each direction.

He says there are no boil water advisories at this time.
