Is warm weather impacting flu season?
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — An unseasonably warm winter has had impacts on things like rainfall and agriculture, but what sort of impact is it having on people’s health?
According to Dr. David Hill, a pediatrician at Kids Care Pediatrics in Leland, they have seen a few cases of the flu this year. Dr. Hill said they are starting to see the standard seasonal uptick in patients despite it feeling more like April than December.
“So far it’s kind of an average year for us for flu. I think it’s important for people to know that there is still plenty of time to get a flu vaccine, and if they’re not already protected they really should be,” said Hill.
There has only been one flu death reported in North Carolina so far this year which is down from this time last year.
