Barfield replaces White on CFCC Board of Trustees

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The New Hanover County Commission met today for the first time in 2016.

One item discussed at the meeting was the appointments of commissioners to various boards and committees.

Jonathan Barfield will replace Woody White on the Cape Fear Community College Board of Trustees.

Although White spoke about his opposition to Barfield taking his seat on the Board of Trustees during the meeting tonight, he did not vote against the appointments.

White said, “Well the points were made. I felt that it was a perfunctory vote at that point and I wasn’t going to vote against the other 29 or so appointments. I just felt like procedurally it didn’t matter at that point.”

The Board of Commissioners also adopted a Code of Ethics tonight.

Commission Chair Beth Dawson said earlier in the meeting that she especially wanted to point out a portion of the code that says commissioners should treat other board members and the public with respect and honor the opinions of others even when they disagree.
