Onslow Co. makes $46,000 selling firearms
ONSLOW COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — Onslow County made more than $46,000 off selling surplus firearms from the sheriff’s department.
The county commission voted unanimously in November to sell the surplus weapons to the public for 60 days through a licensed firearm dealer. Hollywood’s Pawn & Jewelry won the contract to sell the weapons for $325 per handgun and shotguns either $150 or $175 each depending on the model.
The 130 handguns and 31 shotguns went on sale Feb. 3. They were all sold by late Thursday, the county said in a news release.
In all, the county profited $46,814 that will go into the county’s general fund.
