Republicans release video response to State of County address

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — New Hanover County Commissioner Woody white and fellow candidates for the March primary election released a video response to Beth Dawson’s state of the county address delivered yesterday.

Dawson said the county is fiscally strong and that it’s in the top three percent of counties in the country.
White and other candidates responded by saying Dawson broke her promises by her support of a tax increase, welfare expansion, and “no limits” travel policy.

“This year, you’re paying more of your hard earned money in local taxes, because of the deal she cut for herself,” White said. “Last year, without a tax raise, Sales and property taxes both grew naturally. We did not need a six million dollar tax raise.”

All three said in the video that the republican team of Woody White, Patricia Kusek and , Jim Brumit along with commissioner Watkins hope to bring change to the county.
