USS North Carolina reaches major milestone

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) –Good news for the USS North Carolina, specifically on the fundraising front.

According to executive director Captain Terry Bragg, the Battleship has raised $14.9 million of their $17 million goal. That’s some good news, but the better news is that according to Bragg the remaining balance is for education programs on the ship and they already have enough to make all the structural repairs needed to keep the ship floating on the Cape Fear River.

Bragg also said the ship recently activated Wi-Fi onboard. The program is the first of its kind of any historic ship in the world.

All season long UNCW both UNCW basketball teams have been doing their part to raise money with the Buckets for the Battleship 3-pointer fundraiser. The teams have scored 301 3-pointers this season and men’s team has another chance to add on a few more tonight.
