No injuries reported in afternoon house fire

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — The Wilmington Fire Department responded to a house fire Sunday afternoon.

A spokesman said it happened at 347 Beasley Road.

Investigators said the fire started on the front porch and spread in to the attic.

Fire investigators determined the probable cause of the fire was discarded smoking materials. Damage was limited to the exterior of the house, mainly in the porch area where the fire originated. Damage estimates are $10, 000.

The American Red Cross is assisting the family. No injuries were reported.
