Student displays Confederate Flag at WBHS causing disturbance
BRUNSWICK, COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The principal of West Brunswick High School plans to address students this morning after five students were involved in a disruption in which a student displayed a Confederate Flag.
Brunswick County Schools spokeswoman Jessica Swencki said in a release Principal Brock Ahrens will remind students that administration and staff will not tolerate any further disruptions to the educational environment. She said Ahrens will use this as a teachable moment to remind students their actions have consequences.
The names of the students who took part in this incident have not been released because student privacy issues prohibits the release of information. Swencki did say the incident was sparked after a student displayed a Confederate Flag in the courtyard and cafeteria.
She said school staff immediately investigated after the incident happened yesterday and there that will be repercussions for those five students involved.
