Long lines to vote at UNCW precinct
WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Some New Hanover County precincts were busy all day, but some had hour long lines.
This is also the first election with the new voter ID law.
Most of the precinct officials said they have not had any complaints about the id requirement.
Wrightsboro Elementary School election officials said they had a steady flow of voters all day, but at UNCW, some voters said they waited for almost 2 hours. Brian Kouri said he had more of an issue with his wait time than the voter ID law.
“I don’t necessarily see anything wrong with people having to prove that they’re United States citizens to vote in a United States election,” Kouri said. “I think I’m just fine with that. You have to have an ID to do everything else.”
The polls will be open until 7:30 and officials said you will be able to vote if you get in line at 7:30.
