The American Red Cross of the Cape Fear Area hosting a Battleship blood drive

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — The American Red Cross of the Cape Fear Area is hosting a unique blood drive on Wednesday as a way to honor veterans. 

It will take place on the Battleship North Carolina. 

Everyone who donates on Wednesday will receive a ticket to take a free tour of the ship at a future date of their choosing. 

The Executive Director of The American Red Cross of the Cape Fear Area said since August, there has been a 25% decline in donations nationwide — which is why they need people to roll up their sleeves to give the gift of life. 

“It’s a great way to honor our veterans as well as collecting lifesaving blood that our hospitals so desperately need,” Executive Director, James Jarvis, said. 

You can register to donate blood by visiting www.redcrossblood.org. But walk-ins are also welcome.
