Southport live burn training planned for two dates this month

SOUTHPORT, NC (WWAY) — Two live burn training sessions will take place this month in Southport.

616 North Caswell Avenue and 609 North Burrington Avenue will be used in the burns.

Both structures have been under abatement status with Code Enforcement.

Officials say all of the NC Air Quality permits, asbestos inspections, and approval from other state agencies have been obtained and are on file.

There will be some streets that will be blocked on the day of the burns, and fire hydrants in the areas will be utilized.

616 North Caswell will be burned on November 18th beginning at 7:00 a.m. This will be an all-day/evening event. A portion of West Owens Street and North Caswell Avenue will be shut down during this event.

609 North Burrington will be burned on November 21st beginning at 4:00 p.m. This will be an evening event. A portion of Burrington Avenue will be closed during this event.
