UNCW, ECU, NC State and Topsail baseball all win on Friday

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — We showcased four different baseball games on our sports segment on Friday night.

• UNCW defeated Iona 11-1. Ryan Foster went the distance for the Seahawks.
• We had quite a Wilmington connection in the NC State 9-1 baseball win over Notre Dame. Former Hoggard pitcher Joe O’Donnell went the distance for the Wolfpack. Former Ashley slugger Chance Shepard knocked had 2 RBI.
• Whiteville grad Turner Brown delivered a game-tying clutch hit for East Carolina in the 8th inning against Monmouth. ECU won 4-3 in walk-off fashion in the 9th.
• Topsail High is now 2-0 in the Mideastern Conference in baseball. Topsail with a complete game performance from Payton Rice beat New Hanover 2-0.
