House fire in Surf City ruled accidental

SURF CITY, NC (WWAY) — A fire at a single family home in Surf City Saturday has been ruled accidental.

Pender County Fire Marshal Tommy Batson said they received the call around 5:15 p.m. at 305 N. Shore Drive. He said emergency crews were able to put out the fire and left the scene around 7:25 p.m. The fire was ruled accidental

Batson said one person went to the hospital in their own vehicle, but no serious injuries have been reported.

The damage was estimated to be about $50,000.
