Gold’s Gym hosts special event to honor homeless vets

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – Gold’s Gym in Porters Neck is holding a special event today for homeless veterans in our area.

It started at 3:30 p.m. and goes on until 7 p.m.

General Manager, Scott Elliott, says they have about 30 vendors giving away food and prizes.  He says they are also doing giveaways and have activities for children.

Elliott says this is the first time they’ve held an event like this at their Porters Neck location.

“Well I’ve worked for Gold’s for years, so I go all over the country,” said Ellion. “When I do promotions I always try to involved the vets, because it’s close to my heart, so I always put them first before anyone else.”

Elliott says they’re also offering deals on memberships and giving away a Yeti cooler.  All proceeds from the event will go to the Good Shepherd Center.
