Tractor-trailer crash on I-85 kills one

CHARLOTTE, NC (WSOC) — About 11 hours later, crews reopened the northbound lanes of Interstate 85 after a tractor-trailer crashed and caught fire early Wednesday morning, causing massive traffic headaches for motorists in north Charlotte.

The driver has been identified as Christopher Dyer, 22, of Georgia and the passenger as Rodney Watson, 45, of Mississippi.

Troopers told anchor Allison Latos that the passenger of the tractor-trailer has died. The driver’s family is coming to the hospital from Georgia.
