2 charged in Leland Food Lion robbery


LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Leland Police have charged two men in connection with a robbery inside a grocery store.

A spokesman with the Leland Police Department said James Allen Staton, 25, and Jarrett Raekwan Packer, 20, were arrested yesterday in Wilmington by the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force. Both are in the Brunswick County Jail charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and are being held under $50,000 bond each, according to records.

Police said the pair robbed man in the bathroom inside the Food Lion off of Mt. Misery Road last month. At the time, police said the victim was not cooperating with police. Now they said the victim later identified Packer, while tips from the public helped to identify Staton.
