Preseason schedule for the Carolina Panthers is set

CHARLOTTE (PANTHERS) — The Panthers will face a quartet of AFC opponents in the preseason, opening with a pair of road games before closing with two home games.

The NFL released the preseason matchups for every team Thursday and is expected to release the regular season schedule later this month.

Times and dates for the preseason schedule will be determined in the near future, though Carolina and Pittsburgh have already set their annual preseason finale for Sept. 1 at Bank of America Stadium. This will mark the 14th consecutive season the Panthers and Steelers have met in the final preseason game.

2016 CAROLINA PANTHERS PRESEASON SCHEDULE
WEEK DATE OPPONENT LOCATION TIME
1 Aug. 11-15 at Baltimore Ravens M&T Bank Stadium TBD
2 Aug. 18-22 at Tennessee Titans LP Field TBD
3 Aug. 25-28 vs. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS Bank of America Stadium TBD
4 Sept. 1 vs. PITTSBURGH STEELERS Bank of America Stadium TBD

The reigning NFC champion Panthers will begin with trips to Baltimore and Tennessee before returning home to face New England and Pittsburgh. All of the opponents are common preseason ones for the Panthers outside of the Titans. The teams have met just once in the preseason (2010), and this will mark Carolina’s first preseason trip to Nashville.

As was the case last year, the Panthers will face the perennially strong Patriots in the third game, when teams typically play their starters the longest.

All games will be televised on the Panthers Television Network and re-aired on Time Warner Cable SportsChannel throughout the Carolinas.

The Panthers are 41-44 in preseason games. Carolina finished at least .500 in the preseason in each of its seven playoff seasons, including a 3-1 mark last year.
